About

Enery was founded in 2019. In 2021, 3SIIF acquired a majority stake in the company while also making a sizeable capital allocation to allow the continued growth of the business.

Enery owns a portfolio of 312MW of operating generation assets and a significant development portfolio of ~8GW+ across Central and Eastern Europe.

Enery operates an IPP-model. Rather than developing then selling assets, it seeks to build generation capacity size and scale while also pursuing vertical integration throughout the value chain. The business operates across renewable generation technologies including wind, solar and hydro generation.

Why we invested

The CEE region is attractive to renewable energy generation operators as it offers high irradiation and wind resource, comparatively modest land pricing and a growing industrial base. At the same time, relative to Western Europe in particular, the market is comparatively under-developed.

  • Experienced management: Management team has a demonstrated track record from prior roles
  • Decarbonisation: Replacement of carbon-intensive thermal generation with clean renewable energy
  • Asset maturity: Operating platform with potential greenfield expansion opportunities.

Outcomes

In line with global Net Zero commitments, the Central and Eastern European (‘CEE’) region is expected to present substantial opportunities for renewables investment in the near term. PV generation has yet to be widely deployed in the CEE despite the ideal conditions with high levels of irradiation and availability of suitable land.
