THE BACKGROUND

Blackburn Central High School (BCHS) 960-place secondary school for pupils aged 11 - 16 with 900 mainstream places in BCHS and 60 places for SEN provision in Crosshill. The school was newly-established and opened as BCHS with Crosshill in September 2012, the SEN provision relocated in late 2021 and BCHS now reside as the sole occupier. Witton Park Academy is a 1,200-place secondary school for pupils aged 11 -16. During the course of operations, the school converted to Academy status.

The schools form part of the ‘Building Schools for the Future’ Government initiative.

The operational concession will expire in August 2037.

Project revenues are availability-based.

The public sector commissioning body was Blackburn with Darwen Council.
